Guide
Resonant Guard 3rd Item
Important Reminders and Tips:
1: This and most other Talonflame builds do not work well with Comfey. This is partially due to the low health and defense of Talonflame and also because it often becomes more of a sacrificial mission.
2: Levelling up to level 7 is of the utmost importance as Acrobatics (1491/2253), and Peck (924/924) are weak moves. Prioritize on not dying and farming. This build relies heavily on highly damaging attacks and usually requires support from a teammate.
3: An important thing to know is that the fastest records I have achieved in an actual ranked match for leveling to level 7 are as follows. Jungle: ~8:10, Bottom: ~7:45, Top: ~7:25
4; As a follow-up to the previous reminder, Talonflame usually does not reach level 7 at this point, and a much more plausible time is around the 7:10 mark, and like all other Pokémon, it is advisable to know the wild Pokémon spawning times to achieve this.
5: This extends the advice given in reminders 2 - 4 in which participation and winning in team fights are the result of a level 4 or above attack weight and same or level advantage with at least half of the participating opponents. If under-leveled, retreat as fast as possible when below half health and no more than half of the participating opponents are dead. If either condition is not activated continue to attack.
6: Check bushes before attacking or initiating objectives, information on crucial items like the location of hiding enemies to prepare for the possibility of a steal. (This applies to all Pokémon)
7: The high speed of Talonflame with the ability Gale Wings (+10%/+15% speed) is a way to make in certain scenarios survivable even with less health than other builds. Maintain about a half-screen distance using Brave Bird and Aerial Ace.
8: This is an extension of tip 7, the Baltoys nearby the wall and goal zones of either team is an important emergency escape route. Unlike Flame Charge, Aerial Ace has a "No Target" text which appears when no enemy or wild Pokémon appear in range. To escape a dicey scenario, press Aerial Ace and move down to almost touch the wall then release when a red glow appears around the Baltoy. This is also possible as a way of entry by lining up to be very close or exactly 90 degrees from the wall with the Baltoy in between, being closer to the wall helps here.
9: This is an extension of tip 8, as keeping those "Wing Baltoy" alive is the best thing unless necessary. If in the menu you see a Talonflame with Aerial Ace, please be sure to remove the Wing Baltoy for insurance.
10: Stealing Objectives are a must, therefore this setup in honesty does not help with this. Talonflame only has Brave Bird and Fly to secure the Objectives (Regileki, Rayquaza, et cetera), both equally difficult to steal with. Depending on the amount of attackers, it is best to time it between 1/8 - 1/7 of the health remaining if using Brave Bird (half second later with Fly), taking hours of practice and instincts.
