Guide
— Intro —
Tyranitar was, and is an overwhelming force. Bulky, strong, and capable of dishing out constant damage, only offset by its slow movement, makes it one of the best Pokémon in the game. However, Tyranitar needs to reach level 9 to truly benefit the team, making any team with a Tyranitar have to babysit it in order to dominate the game.
— Items —
– Held Item –
Attack Weight - Mandatory, Tyranitar excels in doing constant damage thanks to its' passive, Sand Stream. You'll want to score with 2 Aeos Energy early, and then steal enemies mobs to score 5 AE and another 5 AE. Worry about the rest of the stack later the entire game.
Weakness Policy - Mandatory, Tyranitar will always be in the middle of combat, thereby receiving most damage in the entire clash. Weakness Policy can contribute to Tyranitar's bulk while also increasing its' offensive capabilities. Combined with Attack Weight, a surviving Tyranitar will always be a menace for the entire team.
Focus Band - Mandatory, LowHP Healing, incredible defensive stat, just what Tyranitar needs. Combined with Sand Stream that increases Tyranitar's Def and SpD, Tyranitar will last longer than some tanks. And the more second Tyranitar is alive, the more damage you're dealing to all enemies around you.
– Battle Item –
Full Heal - Mandatory, removes any CC, bane of all All-Rounders. X-Speed will make you the most kitable Pokémon in the entire Multiverse, so don't use it at all.
— Moves —
Rock Polish - Why? Because you have to dash in order to reach the enemy's goal. If you goal your early 2 AE, you'll get to level 3 anyway, giving you Bite. Use Rock Polish to dash and deal damage to opponents by your basic attacks, use Bite to immobilize your opponents and finish them off.
Dark Pulse (DP) - Deals damage to a cone and stuns them if their health reaches a threshold (50%). If you hit enemies recently hit by your Dark Pulse, increase damage dealt. CC and damage, and you're still mobile while using it! Always pick Dark Pulse in any game.
Ancient Power (AP) - Gives you shield, status hindrance, stun, and most importantly, piercing attacks. Remember that it has a second instance of skill that deals damage and gives you shield based on enemies hit. Hitting Dark Pulse while having the buff also increases its duration. Pick whenever enemies are filled with Attackers and CC Supports.
Sand Tomb (ST) - Gives you a HUGE area denial move. Reduces damage received. Pick only whenever your opponents are dominated with melee All-Rounders, Supports, or Defenders.
— Combo —
AP -> DP -> AA -> AA -> AP -> DP -> AA -> AA...
AP -> DP -> Unite -> AA -> DP -> AP -> AA -> DP -> AA -> AA...
- The above combo provides good damage while maintaining Sand Stream.
— Note —
• Always try to reach level 9 whenever Objective spawns (08:00 minute mark), never try to clash at level 8. In my experience, if you're level 8 at 08:00, enemies (especially middle lane) is ahead of you, making the supposed clash difficult to win.
