Guide
General Overview:
------------------------
As a Greninja player, you suffer from being easy to kill with the caveat of having incredible ranged DPS and Assassination Potential (AP).
To achieve the most out of the build you must be the middle player. Focus on turning into Greninja as soon as possible and pay close attention to your lanes. Your optimal first gank is always going to be one with a caster on your team. Pikachu is strong in the META and can enable your early kill potential when you pair up your attacks. So, if you have a caster pokemon on your team, enable their growth eliminating the enemy Players in that lane often. This will fuel your huge damage spikes from leveling.
Pay close attention to the Dreadmaw spawn timer, they are critical to gaining an edge over the enemy's points. You should be consistently looking to get free dunks behind over extended enemies and get free kills. You're more likely to support the bottom lane with frequent visits due to Dreadmaw being down there when it spawns.
Item Choice Specification:
----------------------------------
Scope Lens is crucial to getting those big numbers on your Surf when paired with the Smokescreen. Smokescreen grants movement speed for repositioning between targets mid-fight, while granting temporary stealth and an Attack Boost when revealed.
Muscle Band lets you have extra damage and improved attack speed. This means you get to weave in basic attacks between moves much more easily.
Focus Band allows you to have a bit more defense and survivability when fighting. As an easy-to-kill pokemon, this helps you stay in a fight longer, dashing between enemies.
Unite Combo:
---------------------
To deal an explosive amount of damage you'll need to know how to combo correctly. The following is with the Unite move.
Smokescreen > 1 Basic Attack > Waterburst Shuriken > 1 Basic Attack > Surf
The purpose of this combo is to pump out as much damage between animations and status increases as possible. You cancel Smokescreen with 1 Basic Attack and use the attack increase you get from it to do an extra chunk of damage with your ultimate, and then use a quick basic attack to add an additional chip of damage before using surf. If all targets are low you should be able to consistently use Surf from the ability reset repeatedly. If targets aren't low from the Unite moves burst damage, chip away at them with extra basic attacks until they are low enough to execute with Surf.
Combo 2:
-------------
Otherwise, your generic approach/combo will be the following.
Basic Attacks > Smoke Screen > 1 Basic Attack> Surf
Always use your Basic Attacks to lower your enemy's health and finish them off with Surf. To get bigger damage numbers for your Surf you must use Smokescreen to quickly give you that bonus damage upon getting revealed. I recommend doing a single basic attack to reveal yourself just to get an extra pinch of damage off on your enemy before dashing through them. You'll be surprised that the little extra damage you put in makes the difference in a lot of cases.
Works Well With
Mamoswine is a meaty crowd control POWERHOUSE, he can keep enemies off of Greninja while also keeping them in place for him to get free auto attacks in. Mamoswine also pairs well with Pikachu on your team or any caster, allowing them to survive between attacks. Granting perfect synergy with Greninja.
Pikachu is one of the best Pokemon in team fight-heavy comps out there. As a caster, they can get multiple pokemon low enough for Greninja to clean house with Surf. Pikachu's Unite Move paired with its natural crowd control, allow Greninja to be extremely comfortable when picking targets. Pikachu also pairs extremely well with Mamoswine in the same lane.
