Guide
I don't know why but apparently Surf is back in the meta.
Substitute 100% of the time when you go jungle. It helps your jungle clearing fast a lot. If you're going lane Greninja (which I don't recommend AT ALL) start with Bubble because that allows you to do damage.
Froakie's jungle clearing speed depends on what range you use. If you use ranged it's kinda slow, on the other hand, if you use melee it's pretty fast for a jungler. Getting Level 5, for this build, I use Smokescreen just because Double Team with Surf does not do ANY damage at all. Smokescreen fits well with Surf as it makes you invisible, so you can sneak up on opponents using your basic attacks and then finish them with Surf.
Surf has a mechanic that not a lot of people know. It does not do more damage the lower the target's remaining HP is. It's not an execute, the real effect is when the target is at half or below HP, it deals bonus damage (it deals about 2300 damage which is a bit lower than Brave Bird, but don't think it has a Brave Bird, it doesn't do that much damage as you expect). And of course, if you kill a wild or Opposing Pokemon the cool down will be reset. Surf does heal you which is nice so you can heal off bees.
At Level 9, you get your Unite Move which does a LOT of damage, it also provides a small dash after that so you can gain some distance before going back in your teamfight or etc.
If you want to secure objectives or steal, it's best if you use Surf. Waterburst Shuriken isn't that good at securing because it hits two times. But if you time it right, you can secure the objective with the 2nd hit.
For the items, I'm choosing Buddy Barrier because Greninja is a great teamfighter, Muscle Band because a lot of damage comes from your basic attacks, and Razor Claw might be a bit confusing but Greninja can go in Melee range, even if you want to play it safe, Greninja is a Hypercarry so after you use a move like Smokescreen you can deal more damage with your basic attack (especially in melee range).
