Guide
Wigglytuff‘s ability to put people to sleep gives him an interesting scoring advantage. He can sleep people who try to attack him on goal and then score way more points than a normal person with score shield could. This is powerful enough on its own, but with sp. attack specs, it gets even more crazy. See, with sp. attack specs, the more points you score at once, the more your attack increases. Most people who try to run special attack specs or attack weight score only 2 points each time because otherwise it’s impossible for them to score. But with Wigglytuff, you can score a lot more points and get even more enormous attack boosts than an overpowered attacker. If that sounds good to you, keep reading.
Start with pound and try to get to level 4 ASAP. Try to coordinate taking down the top Pokémon together (ping if necessary) and you should be good. Once you have at least 16 points, run to the other goal and see if your opponents try to block you. If someone is coming, sleep them and score. If no one is defending their goal, just score and prepare to win quickly. Unless two people try to stop me, even against burst Pokémon I’ve been able to score 16 points consistently and 20 points consistently unless a really strong burst damage Pokémon is defending.
If you mess up and your shield breaks, it’s best to run away. Score shield has a 6 second cooldown, and it’s already going to be tough to survive an opponent’s goal zone. Remember that Eject Button and Sing are your friends.
Once you get the first attack boost, you’ll probably have to be a little more cautious. Definitely score more points if you can, but Wigglytuff’s strength is in the first 6-7 minutes, so if it takes you a long time to accumulate Aeos energy, score less points. You have six attack stacks total you can add, and scoring 16 or more points gets you an extra 12 attack. 9 points or less gets only 6 attack, and in between is 9 attack. So if you score 2 points every time, you get an extra 36 attack, and 16 points, is 72. With the extra exp and healing, the benefits are very large.
Wigglytuff’s role is normally as supporter. While this build is designed to tank damage and hit harder than Wigglytuff usually does, it is still definitely good at supporting your team. Because the other team will waste a lot of time trying to kill you on their goal zone, your team will have plenty of time to farm. Your teammate can also come with you to the goal and use your Sing to score points you couldn’t normally score as well. Plus, your Sing is very beneficial to most other Pokémon during combat in general.
Double Slap is good for dealing damage more quickly, especially for the purpose of stealing farm. It can also slow opponents so they can’t escape you. Dazzling Gleam does less damage and needs an upgrade to slow. Buddy Barrier really improves your unite move, but Aeos Cookie or Razor Claw are both potential replacements. If you find that you rely mostly on your basic attacks, switching Attack Weight for Sp. Attacks Specs can work
