You are a supporter, however, you have to be in the middle of the teamfight to activate your combo so you have to be a little bit tanky too. That's why you will see Mr. Mimes use Assault Vest, Rocky Helmet, or Shell Bell.
This build is based around the Guard Swap + Psychic combo so you have to go these spells. Going confusion barrier is not a bad combo but then you will be more of a burst pokemon than a Tank/Support.
The Eject Button is the most useful item because it gives you much more survivability than any other. If you don't like the Eject Button a simple potion is fine.

Psychic + Guard Swap is the only reason why this build works Mr. Mime is playable. Guard Swap can make any ally tanky and have a speed boost and any enemy get a slow and some dmg. Not only that but also when Psychic is used while using Guard Swap on any pokemon, another Psychic will appear on that pokemon. If two Psychic's hitboxes collide, you stun all enemy pokemon that touch their hitboxes.
Showtime! is a teamfight changing ultimate. You deal dmg while stunning all the enemy teams that you encounter. Since you get also movement speed it's almost impossible to escape from. This can win you the Zapdos Fight easily.

The top 4 Items for this Mr. Mime's build are Assault Vest, Rocky Helmet, Shell Bell, and Buddy Barrier
Assault Vest: As I stated before you have to be tanky. This gives you a shield, not much more to say.
Rocky Helmet: Since you tank a lot, having this item will hurt enemies. As I stated before, you are a supporter, but also a damage dealer.
Shell Bell: This item is great, this will give you some healing when you deal dmg so you will be able to survive more. If you have this item more leveled than Buddy Barrier I would recommend choosing this one.
Buddy Barrier: This one is my favorite. We all know how important Zapdos is and your ult can win you any fight. Buddy Barrier makes your ult even better. It's just stupid how good this is.
----------------------------------Battle Items-----------------------------------
Eject Button and Potion are both fine but I feel like you are enough tank to survive, and if you are going to die a potion is not going to save you anyway, that's why I always go Eject Button.
-------------------------------------Strategy------------------------------------
Go either top or bot, it really doesn't matter. Fake Out has a great amount of burst damage so you will be able to fight early or steal enemy camps with this ability.
You won't be a full character until you get both of your abilities, so you have to be patient.
Spam your combo and save your Unite Move for teamfights.
Works Well With
You will always be around a melee pokemon that jumps on the enemy team.
It is not mandatory to go with a tank. Pokemons like Zeraora, Absol, or Gengar will work well since they can get in easy and you can burst with them.
Every team can get a Mr. Mime for help. It just depends on the Mr. Mime player and not on the allies.
